Frequently asked questions
How much do pellets cost?
We produce pellets locally. Although our prices aren’t always the lowest, they are more stable and aren’t affected by fluctuations in international markets. The price of the raw material is set through mutual agreement, which is a form of fair trade at the local level.
Do you offer services for private individuals?
Certain technical requirements must be met for our rental service:
- Accessibility: We operate with a semi-trailer truck and a skip.
- Unity: The biomass must be gathered in one single location.
- Volume: One day’s work amounts to approximately 50 m³, or 10 metric tons of pellets.
- Recurrence: We select sites that allow us to return on regular basis.
If your project meets these criteria, please feel free to provide us with your contact information.
How much do bags of pellets cost?
Currently, we do not produce bagged pellets, but rather bulk pellets. Our prices are therefore set per metric ton.
How much does a PROXIPEL unit cost?
The cost of purchasing a PROXIPEL unit ranges from 800,000 to 1,200,000 CHF. It is a worthwhile investment that can prove very profitable for professionals. Our support team is available to help you develop your business plan.
How much does the rental service cost?
PROXIPEL is also available for daily rental. This service includes use of the machine, the operator’s labor, and consumables. The price depends on the distance to be covered and the duration of the job. Since transportation and setup can take time, it is more cost-effective to rent the machine for several days.
When will the service be available?
The service is available now by reservation.
Can we see the unit in operation?
Yes, we regularly organise demonstrations of our unit. Contact us to find out the next available dates.
My pellet heater isn't working properly. What should I do?
This isn’t our area of expertise. We recommend contacting a heating professional. You can find a list of specialists through the PROPELLET association. There are many ways to optimize your heating system’s settings and improve combustion.
Can your machines process any type of wood?
Our units are designed to process a wide range of materials. However, each new material requires prior validation, which may take anywhere from a few days to several years. We support project partners through our advisory service and laboratory.
Can pellets be produced from any type of biomass?
We can turn almost anything into pellets, but not for just any purpose. Some materials are unsuitable for combustion due to their mineral, nitrogen, or other compound content. Pellets can also be used for other applications, such as fertilizer or animal feed, or as precursors in certain industrial processes. For each material, it is essential to explore its optimal use. We are able to provide technical answers to these questions, which is one of our core activities.
What is the productivity of your unit?
Our solution is designed to produce one metric ton of pellets per hour of operation. However, at a new site or when using a new raw material, some time may be needed for setup and fine-tuning. That is why we recommend working with consistent and fairly large batches. Productivity may also vary depending on the type of biomass used.
